The Full Lumen

A new event this year was provided by the Watercress Line in the form of a two day festival to celebrate St George’s Day. Both days were steam only, no nasty smelly diesels, with two special services, “The Dragon Slayer” and “The Patron Saint”, locomotive power being provided by Lord Nelson and Wadebridge respectively, with the opportunity to win the locomotive headboards. There were Morris Dancers aplenty, vintage cars and a good old Punch and Judy show, as well as the joy of steam. The sun shone with fluffy white clouds set against beautiful blue skies. The stations were bedecked with St George’s flags and bunting. Smiles were on the faces of all the visitors. It was joyful and photographic opportunities abounded.
