Shopping at Milestones

Had another trip to Milestones today, this time to photograph the “shops” in the museum. These displays include a Post Office, milliners, Co-op, camera shop, toy shop, teddy bear shop, 1930’s motor car showroom, gas appliances shop, sweet shop, Edwardian pub, tobacconist, jewellers, hardware store, bicycle shop and a phonograph/radio shop.

This time wide angle lenses were the order of the day to capture shop fronts and interiors. Most shots were taken using a Zeiss Biogon 21mm f2.8 G, with a few taken using a Zeiss Biogon 28mm f2.8 G and a Zeiss Planar 35mm f2 G. The camera was a Contax G2 using Fujicolor Superia 1600 colour negative film.

Despite the very fast film and fast-ish wide angle lenses, shutter speeds were typically down at 1/25th, an 1/8th and on occasion 1 second, hand held (in the latter case braced against a door frame).

The films were processed and scanned at the Fuji Photofilm Processing Lab using FujiDigital minilab equipment.

Pictures have been posted here.

We shall be returning to visit in a couple of weeks time to photograph “Santa at Milestones” their annual Xmas event.
